What an exciting project for the students, teacher and the organizer. On Saturday and Sunday 5-6/9/2015. MES has started our first workshop for the Music Festival Project.  We advertised and got 25 students to join the work shop. The students are divided into 5 groups or bands and each of them place with one of the instruments and then take turn.

After several workshops students will be able to play a song and they will then play with modern instrument band, like drum, guitar and bass.when the workshops have completed, the participants or trainees will get a reward certificate and perform on the concert with other musicians. Also these instruments will be available at MES, so they can schedule when they want to come for a practice and continuing practicing it. As this is their first weekend or first workshop, they got to know about the instruments and learn basic techniques of how to play them.

The person that’s also very important for this workshop is the instructor Mr. Sayasith Saliyavong. “Saynyasith Saliyavong is a traditional musician and teacher. He teaches traditional music at Kiettisack International School in Luang Prabang. He has his own band named Lanexang Maholy. He started to learn Lao traditional music since he was 10 years old and he used to play with many famous Lao traditional bands in Luang Prabang. He also used to direct plays at the heritage house in Luang Prabang.”

Here are some photos and a short video from the workshop!
